Jake attended the Wisconsin DHS Self Determination Conference at the Kalahari in the Wisconsin Dells. This was an annual conference in which people get together and discuss all the possibilities for not only jobs and careers, but how to advocate for themselves and others with disabilities.

To Remember
A Poem
By Melanie Ann Benson
To remember, all your childhood like dreams,
in clouds of mist, of true likeness it seems.
So happy, so unknowing, like a childish scheme,
Ready for the end, of a night marish dream.
Remember the innocence, the one inside me,
trying to forget, the things that be.
Remember your self, the one within,
it starts from the beginning and not the end.
So it goes, till the day we die,
trying to remember all, not knowing just why!
Normal
A Poem By
Melanie Ann Benson
As I walk this earth, lost and confused.
See so much hate, and abuse.
Life is so hard to keep standing strong.
I wonder how? Â I can stand it at all.
What is normal you ask? Nothing at all.
Just one mans ideal, of how he see’s it all.
True normal is what you believe to be.
Just try your hardest, and you’ll see, what I mean!
